Evolution Chart

If you’ve ever hatched a new egg hoping for Mametchi and ended up with Shigemi-san for the fourth time in a row, this page is for you. The Tamagotchi Paradise evolution system is more complex than any previous device — your Tamagotchi’s final form depends on three separate decisions you make across multiple growth stages. Get any one of them wrong and you’ll end up somewhere completely different.

This guide covers all six shells (Blue Water, Pink Land, Purple Sky, Jade Forest, White Glacier and Orange Tropics), every species, and every adult character in the game. Bookmark it. You’ll be back.

🔎 Tamagotchi Paradise Evolution Finder & Character Calculator

Pick your field, what you fed during the Kid stage, and how careful you were — we’ll tell you exactly which adult you’re headed for.

1 Which field / shell?
2 What did you feed most as a Kid?

3 How was your care during the Young stage?

Care mistakes are cumulative from the Kid stage. Perfect = 0 mistakes and hunger + happy each maxed 5×.

Built from the chart below. H = hunger drain interval, Hap = happiness drain interval (higher = more forgiving).

How Evolution Works: The Quick Version

Your Tamagotchi goes through four stages: Baby → Kid → Young → Adult. Each transition is influenced by different choices:

  • Baby → Kid: Which Tama Field you're in determines which Kid type hatches (Water Kid, Land Kid, Sky Kid, or Forest Kid).
  • Kid → Young: What you feed during the Kid stage determines which Young species you get (Glide, Leap, Toddle, Chirp, etc.).
  • Young → Adult: How many care mistakes you make during the Young stage (cumulative with Kid mistakes!) determines which of four adults you get.

Miss just one piece of this and you'll get a different character than you were aiming for. The good news: for the first time in Tamagotchi history, you can actually see your care mistake count in the Tama Cell view.

Stage 1: Baby to Kid (Which Field?)

When Babymarutchi hatches, leave it in the Tama Field that matches the species you want. It needs 15 minutes per Field Cell, and 4 matching Field Cells to evolve into that field's Kid.

Field Kid Type Shell that starts here
Water Field Water Kid Blue Water
Land Field Land Kid Pink Land
Sky Field Sky Kid Purple Sky
Forest Field Forest Kid Jade Forest only

Jade Forest note: The Forest Field replaces the Sky Field on the Jade Forest shell. Sky Kid is not available on Jade Forest, and Forest Kids can only become Forest Field adults — they won't mix with the Sky evolution lines.

The Bbmarutchi Trick (Planet Level Speed Run)

Want to level your planet fast without waiting days for each adult? Switch fields every 12–14 minutes (never exceed 15!) for 4 hours. Babymarutchi won't accumulate 4 matching field cells, so it evolves into Bbmarutchi instead of a normal Kid. Bbmarutchi counts as an adult for planet level purposes, letting you blaze through Levels 6–10 in a day instead of a week. The catch: Bbmarutchi can't breed, so you'll need a new egg to continue.

Stage 2: Kid to Young (What Food?)

During the Kid stage, feed specific food types to determine which Young species your Tamagotchi becomes. You need at least one food icon of the target type to appear in your Tama Cell, with more of that type than any other. If there's no dominant food type, you'll get the default Young (Float, Sprout, Rocky, or Forest Sprout).

Water Field Foods

Food Type Foods That Give It → Young Species
Seafood Seafood, Fried Fish, Shellfish, Grilled Shellfish Glide Young
Seaweed Green Seaweed, Red Seaweed, Seaweed Salad Leap Young
Plankton Meal Shrimp, Meal Plankton, Plankton Dumplings Paddle Young
None / Mixed Default Pellets or equal amounts of each Float Young

Land Field Foods

Food Type Foods That Give It → Young Species
Meat Big Meat, Small Meat, Steak Roar Young
Carrot Apples, Carrots, Apple Pie, Shredded Carrots Toddle Young
Worm Meal Bugs, Meal Worms, Bug Cookies Lick Young
None / Mixed Default Pellets or equal amounts of each Sprout Young

Sky Field Foods

Food Type Foods That Give It → Young Species
Chicken Whole Chicken, Piece of Chicken, Chicken Steak Flap Young
Corn Corn, Cherry, Piece of Corn, Corn Flakes Chirp Young
Honey Flower Syrup, Honey Syrup, Flower Drops Bumble Young
None / Mixed Default Pellets or equal amounts of each Rocky Young

⚠️ Device bug: On the original three-color shells, Chirp Young and Flap Young's names are swapped on the device screen. The official website originally had the same error before it was corrected. The Jade Forest shell has it right. Don't let it confuse you — the evolution paths work correctly, just the names on screen are backwards.

Forest Field Foods (Jade Forest only)

Food Type Foods That Give It → Young Species
Peking Meat Chashu Pork, Peking Meat, Warm Buns Forest Roar Young
Bamboo Grass Bamboo Grass, Sesame Leaves, Bamboo Leaf Rice Cake, Sesame Pancake Forest Toddle Young
Pomegranate Persimmon, Pomegranate, Che Thai Forest Chirp Young
None / Mixed Default Pellets or equal amounts of each Forest Sprout Young

Tip: You only need one food icon to trigger the right Young. Feed a few of the target food, get the icon in your Tama Cell, then switch to cheap default pellets to save your resources.

Stage 3: Young to Adult (Care Mistakes)

This is where most players go wrong. Care mistakes are cumulative starting from the Kid stage — so if you made 2 mistakes as a Kid and 1 as a Young, that's 3 total. The adult you get depends on that combined count.

How to make a care mistake: Let the hunger or happiness meter hit zero, wait for the attention beep, then ignore it for 15 full minutes.

Perfect care requirement: To get the perfect care adult, you need 0 mistakes total AND must have maxed out both the Hunger meter and Happy meter at least 5 times each during the Young stage. Both conditions are required — zero mistakes alone won't cut it.

Getting sick: After a care mistake, your Tamagotchi has a 30–35% chance of getting sick if your mistake count isn't divisible by 2 or 3 (so mistakes 1, 5, 7 are the risky ones). Six dark poops left on screen can also trigger illness. Getting sick 5 times in one stage = death.

Secret Characters

Each shell has one hidden character you can unlock by connecting to two different shell colors while your Tamagotchi is in the Young stage. You need to connect to two different colors — connecting twice to the same color doesn't count.

Shell Young Types That Work Secret Character
Blue Water 🔵 Any water Young except Float Mermarintchi
Pink Land 🩷 Lick Young only Chodracotchi
Purple Sky 💜 Flap, Chirp, or Bumble Young (NOT Rocky) Yayacorntchi
Jade Forest 🟢 Forest Roar, Forest Toddle, or Forest Chirp Young (NOT Forest Sprout) Tatsutchi 🐉

Tatsutchi is an East Asian dragon — one of the coolest-looking characters in the game and only available on the Jade Forest shell.

Quick Tips

Aiming for perfect care? The UFO mini-game is the most efficient way to keep happiness maxed. Play it whenever you have free time.

Aiming for heavy neglect? Let both meters drain to zero, wait 15 minutes for the attention call to count as a mistake, then refill and repeat. You can rack up 6 mistakes fairly quickly this way.

Can't decide what to raise? Your food choices lock in during the Kid stage, but you can actually switch Tama Fields during the Kid stage and the old field's food cells will clear after an hour in the new field. So if you change your mind early, you can reset your food type.

Check your Tama Cell often. It shows you your current care mistake count (spiral marks), hunger maxed count (rice ball icons), and happy maxed count (sun icons). This is a Tamagotchi first — use it.

How Long Each Evolution Takes

TransitionHow longWhat decides it
Baby → Kid15 minutes per Field Cell, 4 matching cells neededWhich field you are in
Kid → Young24–28 hoursThe dominant food type you fed
Young → Adult~24 hoursCumulative care mistakes

Babymarutchi evolves once it has four matching Field Cells and you interact with the Tama Cell to trigger it. An icon appears over the Tama Cell level when it is ready. After 3–4 hours the evolution triggers automatically, and if you miss or ignore the prompt the field cells it gained disappear.

Changing field during the Kid stage removes any cells tied to the previous field — which is how you deliberately change your Kid’s type mid-stage.

Wake and Sleep Windows

Paradise lets you wake or settle your Tamagotchi within a window, after which it does so on its own. Mornings: 6:00–9:59 AM. Evenings: 7:00–9:59 PM. Once asleep you cannot wake it until morning.

Missed the sleep prompt? Let the device idle until it powers down, turn it back on, return to the Tamagotchi view and press A.

Chasing a Specific Young Species?

The Young species is the middle decision — set by the food you feed during the Kid stage. Each guide below covers the exact foods for every field that species appears in, all four adults it becomes, and whether it qualifies for the secret character.
