Who Is Kabutotchi?
A rhinoceros beetle â heavily armored, compact, with a prominent horn and the solid, ground-level confidence of an insect that doesn’t need to be fast because nothing wants to mess with it. Kabuto mushi (ã«ããã ã·) is Japanese for rhinoceros beetle, one of the most popular insects in Japanese culture and a recurring presence in Tamagotchi character rosters.
The near-perfect result for the Sky Field’s Bumble Species. Kabutotchi was well-cared-for with minimal lapse, and it developed the quiet capability of something that has never had to fight particularly hard for anything but would be very good at it if pressed.

How to Get Kabutotchi
Step 1 â Get into the Sky Field
Start on the Purple Sky shell, which begins in the Sky Field. On the Blue Water and Pink Land shells, the Sky Field unlocks at Level 4. The Sky Field is not available on the Jade Forest shell.
Step 2 â Feed the right food during the Kid stage
Target food type: Honey
Specific foods: Flower Syrup, Honey Syrup â from the shop. Flower Drops â cooked.
Feed until you have at least one Honey icon in your Tama Cell, then switch to Pellets.
Step 3 â Hit the right care level
Requirement: 0 to 1 total care mistakes across the Kid and Young stages.
How care mistakes work: Mistakes accumulate across Kid and Young combined â not per stage. A mistake = hunger or happiness hits zero and you wait 15+ minutes after the attention call before responding.
Track your mistakes: Zoom into Cell View. Each spiral icon = one care mistake.
Important: Zero mistakes + 5 hunger maxes + 5 happiness maxes â Papillotchi instead. To reliably get Kabutotchi, aim for 1 mistake, or allow 0 mistakes but don’t actively max both meters.
Full Bumble Species Evolution Line
All four Bumble adults come from Honey Young, raised in the Sky Field on a diet of Honey foods during the Kid stage.

| Kabutotchi â you are here | Near-perfect â 0â1 total mistakes |
| Tentotchi | Moderate neglect â 2â5 total mistakes |
| Hatchitchi | Heavy neglect â 6+ total mistakes |
Key reminder: Care mistakes are cumulative from the Kid stage onward.
Fun Facts
The rhinoceros beetle holds a special place in Japanese popular culture â children collect and raise them, they appear in video games, anime, and toy lines, and they’re associated with strength and persistence in the culture. Kabutotchi channels all of this: compact, powerful, and slightly intimidating despite its small size. The name also references kabuto (å ), the traditional Japanese samurai helmet, which the beetle’s horn resembles.
Food Preferences
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Favorite type | Sap/sweet items â Honey Syrup, Flower Syrup, Flower Drops, Honey Cake |
| Disliked foods | Meat items â Big Meat, Steak, Grilled Meat trigger rejection |
| Note | Rhinoceros beetles eat tree sap and fruit in nature â Kabutotchi’s honey-food evolution path maps directly to sweet, plant-derived adult preferences. Thematic inference; verify in-game. |
Personality & Raising Tips
Kabutotchi’s 50/70-minute drain split is a step faster than Papillotchi on hunger but close on happiness. Both are manageable on a normal attentive schedule â check in roughly every hour, bias toward feeding early rather than letting hunger dip.
The Bumble Species’ honey-food path (Flower Syrup, Honey Syrup, Flower Drops) requires specific shop items. These aren’t always the default stock for players coming from Land Field paths â make sure you have them sourced before starting the Kid stage.
For intentional Kabutotchi runs: Honey food during Kid until the icon appears, then attentive care with 0â1 mistakes through Young. One mistake allowed gives you a buffer. Don’t actively max both meters (which would tip you into Papillotchi territory).
Personality in lore: Solid, reliable, and quietly formidable. Kabutotchi doesn’t need to make an impression â it makes one anyway just by existing. Among the Sky Field insect characters, it’s the one most often described as “the dependable one”: always there, always functional, never dramatic about it.
Who Should Raise Kabutotchi?
Kabutotchi is a great match for dedicated players who want the near-perfect result on the Honey path without the meter-maxing pressure of Papillotchi. The 50-minute hunger drain requires consistent feeding â roughly every hour â but the 70-minute happiness drain gives real breathing room between games. Players who prefer a character with some urgency in the feeding loop but not in the happiness loop will find Kabutotchi’s stat split very natural.
How Kabutotchi Compares
At 50 minutes, Kabutotchi’s hunger drain is faster than the Sky Field average â requiring more frequent feeding than most adults. Its 70-minute happiness drain is comfortable and above average. Within the Bumble Species, Kabutotchi feeds more often than Papillotchi (60/80) but is more balanced than the undocumented Tentotchi and Hatchitchi. Across the full Sky Field, Kabutotchi sits in the moderately attentive range â not demanding enough to require constant vigilance, but faster on hunger than the most relaxed adults like Ishikorotchi (90/80) or Mongatchi (80/50).
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s easier to get, Kabutotchi or Papillotchi?
Kabutotchi by a significant margin. One mistake is allowed, and no meter maxing is required. Papillotchi needs zero mistakes plus five hunger and happiness maxes. Same food path, very different effort level.
Can Kabutotchi appear on other shells?
Yes â Blue Water and Pink Land (with Sky Field unlocked at Level 4) can produce Kabutotchi given 0â1 care mistakes and Honey Young.
Can Kabutotchi breed?
Yes. All adults in Tamagotchi Paradise can breed with any compatible adult of the opposite gender. After breeding, the egg hatches into Babymarutchi and the evolution cycle starts fresh â the baby’s adult form depends on your field, food, and care choices, not on which parents bred.
