Frozen screen? Dead battery? Pet won’t wake up? Most Tamagotchi problems have quick fixes. This hub covers the common issues across every modern device — Paradise, Uni, Pix, and nano — and how to solve them.
Quick Fixes (Try These First)
| Problem | First thing to try |
|---|---|
| Frozen or unresponsive screen | Press the reset button on the back (see below) |
| Blank / faded screen | Replace or recharge the battery |
| Buttons not responding | Reset, then check for dirt around the buttons |
| Pet seems “gone” | It may be sleeping — check the clock is set correctly |
| Uni won’t connect online | Re-check Wi-Fi and account setup |
How to Reset a Tamagotchi
Most devices have a small reset button on the back, pressed with a fine tip like a straightened paperclip or stylus.
- Soft reset: a quick press restarts the device while keeping your pet and progress (this clears most freezes).
- Full reset: some devices offer a “Reset” menu option or a button combo that wipes data and starts fresh — only use this if a soft reset fails, as it erases your Tamagotchi.
On the Uni, look for the reset pinhole near the charging port. On Paradise, the reset is on the back beside the battery compartment.
Battery Problems
Coin-cell devices (Paradise, nano): a faded, frozen, or randomly resetting screen usually means a weak battery. Replace the coin cell (typically CR2032 — check your manual) and the issue normally clears.
AAA devices (Pix): the Pix drains batteries fast, especially with camera use — rechargeable AAAs are strongly recommended.
Rechargeable (Uni): if it won’t power on, charge for at least 30 minutes with the official cable before troubleshooting further.
Frozen or Glitched Screen
A frozen screen is almost always fixed by a soft reset. If it keeps happening, the battery is the next suspect — replace or recharge it. Persistent glitches after a fresh battery and reset may indicate a hardware fault worth contacting Bandai support about.
Uni Wi-Fi & Account Issues
If your Uni can’t reach the Tamaverse: confirm your network password, make sure you’re on a supported home Wi-Fi (not a captive-portal public network), and re-check the date/time. Full steps are in the Uni Setup & Wi-Fi Guide. Download codes not arriving? Check the email tied to your account, including spam.
Still Stuck?
If a soft reset and a fresh battery don’t fix it, the issue may be hardware. Check your device’s manual and Bandai’s official support channels for warranty or repair options.
