Step 1 — Get into the Land Field
Start on the Pink Land shell, which begins in the Land Field. On the Blue Water shell the Land Field unlocks at Level 6; on the Purple Sky shell at Level 4.

Step 2 — Feed the right food during the Kid stage
Target food type: Bug
Specific foods: Meal Bugs, Meal Worms — from the shop. Bug Cookies — cooked.

Feed until you have at least one Bug icon showing in your Tama Cell. You only need one dominant icon — once it appears, you can switch to cheap Pellets and save resources. The icon stays unless you switch fields (which clears all food icons).

Step 3 — Hit the right care level
Requirement: 2 to 5 total care mistakes across the Kid and Young stages combined.

How to accumulate care mistakes intentionally:
A care mistake occurs when hunger or happiness hits zero and you wait 15 full minutes after the attention call before responding. To reliably land in the 2–5 range:
— Let the hunger or happiness meter hit zero
— Wait for the attention beep
— Wait an additional 15 minutes before refilling
— That’s one mistake

Repeat until you have 2–5 spiral icons in Cell View. Stop after 5 — the next mistake would push you into the 6+ heavy neglect bracket and guarantee Heavytchi instead.

Track your count: Zoom into Cell View using the dial. Each spiral icon = one care mistake. Check it after each intentional mistake to make sure you haven’t overshot.

Full Lick Species Evolution Line

All four Lick adults come from Bug Young, raised in the Land Field on a diet of Bug foods during the Kid stage. The only variable between these four characters is your total care mistake count.
