Food Guide

Food in Tamagotchi Paradise does two things: it keeps your Tamagotchi alive, and during the Kid stage it determines which Young species you evolve into. Get the feeding right and you’re already halfway to the character you want. Get it wrong and you’ll wonder why you keep ending up with the same few characters no matter what you do.

This guide covers every food type, every food item, when feeding matters and when it doesn’t, and how to use the Egg Hunt and cooking system to get the foods you need.

When Does Food Actually Matter for Evolution?

Only during the Kid stage. Once your Tamagotchi becomes a Young, food no longer influences which adult you’ll get — that’s determined entirely by care mistakes from that point on. And before the Kid stage, during the Baby stage, food has no evolutionary impact at all.

So the window where food choices matter is exactly one stage, lasting 24–28 hours. Everything before and after is just keeping your Tamagotchi fed and happy.

How the Food System Works

When you feed your Tamagotchi certain foods during the Kid stage, a hidden point counter goes up for that food type. Once you’ve accumulated 5 points for a given food type, a corresponding food icon appears in your Tama Cell. The food type with the most icons at the time of evolution determines your Young species.

A few important rules:

  • Your Tama Cell can only hold 4 food icons at a time. If you get a 5th, the oldest one gets bumped. Don’t panic if you see an icon disappear — just keep feeding the right type.
  • If there’s no dominant food type — either because you only fed default Pellets or because you fed an equal mix — your Tamagotchi becomes the default Young for that field (Float, Sprout, Rocky, or Forest Sprout).
  • You only need one icon of the right type to be safe, as long as no other type has more. Feed enough to get the icon, then switch to cheap Pellets to save resources.
  • Switching fields during the Kid stage clears all food icons and resets your food type. Useful if you change your mind, annoying if you do it by accident.

The Egg Hunt

The Egg Hunt is your main source of field-specific foods, and running it efficiently makes a big difference to how easily you can hit the food type you want.

How it works:
– Unlock Egg Hunt by reaching a certain Planet Level
– Send up to 3 Tamagotchi (including your current one and released ones from your field) to hunt
– They collect eggs from the volcano or spring that hatch into foods
– Each Tamagotchi can only hunt once per day, and hunts close after 7 PM

Maximizing your egg haul:
– Include your current active Tamagotchi in the party — this gives you significantly more eggs
– Make sure your active Tamagotchi’s happiness is full before sending them. A Tamagotchi with zero happiness gives you fewer eggs and risks a ghost appearing
– Maximum possible yield is 9 eggs per hunt, with roughly a 10% chance of hitting that maximum when your active Tamagotchi is included and happiness is full
– Having 3 full party members (including your active Tamagotchi) gives the best odds

Pro tip: Run the Egg Hunt first thing in the morning as part of your routine. The foods you collect directly feed into your current Kid’s evolution path, so having a stockpile ready means you’re never scrambling.

Cooking

Cooking unlocks at a certain Planet Level and lets you combine raw ingredients into cooked meals that give more food points per feeding than raw items.

  • Access cooking through: Shop Icon → Repas (meals)
  • Cooked meals give more points toward food icons, meaning you need fewer feedings to secure your target Young species
  • They also fill the hunger meter more than basic foods

If you’re in a hurry to lock in a food type before the Kid stage ends, cooked meals are the fastest way to do it.

Food, Happiness, and Liked/Disliked Items

Beyond evolution, food has a small happiness effect:

  • Liked food gives +1 happiness on top of the normal hunger fill
  • Disliked food gives -1 happiness

Every adult character has food preferences visible in their Tama Collection profile on the official site. If you want to maximize happiness efficiency, feed your adult their preferred foods. During the Kid and Young stages this matters less since you’re prioritizing food type for evolution.

Sale Days: Stock Up Cheap

Food and Snacks go 50% off on the 5th, 15th, and 25th of each in-game month. If you know you’re going to need a lot of a specific food type, stock up on sale days rather than buying at full price throughout the month.

Outside toys and Deco Items go on sale on the 10th, 20th, and 30th if you’re interested in planet decorating.
