How to get your Tamagotchi married, what the next generation inherits, and why every 5th generation matters
On the Tamagotchi Uni, your Tamagotchi’s story doesn’t end at adulthood — it continues through marriage and a new generation. Marrying your adult passes the torch to a baby and keeps your family line going, and it’s also the gateway to some of the Uni’s rarest secret characters. Here’s how it all works.
Two Ways to Get Married
When your Tamagotchi reaches adulthood and is ready, you can marry it off in one of two ways:
- Tama Party (in the Tamaverse) — online matchmaking with players around the world.
- Connection (two Uni devices) — marry two physical Unis to each other locally.
Each route plays out a little differently and unlocks different possibilities.
Tama Party — Marrying in the Tamaverse
The Tama Party is the Uni’s online matchmaking feature, carried over from the Tamagotchi Meets/On app. Head there when your adult is ready and you’ll find partner Tamagotchi from all over the world. Choose one, and you’ll be left with a next-generation egg.
The big draw: marrying in the Tama Party can produce special characters you can only get this way — including the rainbow-egg secrets covered below. If you’re chasing the rare adults, the Tamaverse is the route to use.
Connection — Marrying Two Unis
If you and a friend both have a Uni, you can marry your Tamagotchi directly by connecting the two devices. The wedding is quicker than the Tama Party version: instead of a formal proposal, one Tamagotchi asks the other to move out and start a home together, and the device being asked gets to choose yes or no.
Babies born from a two-Uni wedding can be either gender, and the egg takes the color of the parent from that device — so each player continues their own color line.
The Next Generation
Once a proposal is accepted, you’ll get an adorable wedding animation, and then the next-generation egg appears. That egg hatches into your new baby, and your generation counter ticks up by one. Raise the new arrival just like the last — the family line continues for as long as you keep marrying each adult off.
Why Every 5th Generation Matters
Here’s where marriage ties into the Uni’s rarest characters. On generations that are a multiple of 5 (5, 10, 15…), marrying in the Tama Party can produce a rainbow-striped egg instead of the usual color. That rainbow egg is your signal that the Tamagotchi inside can grow into one of two secret adults:
- Hypertchi (male) — also requires going on at least 3 Tama Travel trips.
- Bubbletchi (female) — also requires buying at least 3 Tama Fashion outfits.
Two more secrets, Shimasimatchi and Yattatchi, come specifically from a connection marriage between two Unis plus making at least one DIY accessory during the Child or Teen stage.

Tips for a Smooth Wedding
- Marry while your adult is healthy — neglect can cause it to leave on its own before you get the chance.
- Aiming for a rainbow egg? Track your generation count and plan a Tama Party marriage for generation 5, 10, 15, and so on.
- Want the connection-only secrets? You’ll need a second Uni to marry against — coordinate with a friend.
