Who Is Wooltchi?
Wooltchi’s origin is one of the stranger backstories in the Connection dex. On the Japanese Keitai Kaitsuu Tamagotchi Plus, Wooltchi wasn’t a standalone character at all — it was a costume transformation exclusive to Kurokotchi, a separate character who could put on a wool outfit and become a completely different personality. Kurokotchi’s normal demeanor is described as silent and introverted; in the Wooltchi costume, the same character becomes “bright and cheerful, a chatterbox.” The official profile notes it explicitly: “Fundamentally still Kurokotchi in a disguise.”
On V3, Wooltchi and Kurokotchi are treated as entirely separate raisable characters despite being the same entity in the Japanese release. Wooltchi is a Frail even-gen adult; Kurokotchi is a Stubborn odd-gen adult. Both can be obtained on V3, which means you can raise both the disguise and the character underneath it on the same device across different runs. On V3, Frail means more physical (hunger) mistakes than mental (happiness/discipline) during the teen stage.

How to Get Wooltchi on V3
Step 1 — Even generation only
Wooltchi requires an even generation. Breed your Gen 1 adult to access Gen 2. Odd-gen Frail adults are Hanatchi, Tsunotchi, and Hashizoutchi.
Step 2 — Physical neglect during teen stage
The Frail tier requires more physical mistakes (hunger) than mental (happiness/discipline). Let hunger calls go unanswered for 15+ minutes more frequently than happiness/discipline calls. Aim for 5+ physical vs. 2–3 mental mistakes.
Step 3 — Random draw among Frail even-gen adults
With Frail care on an even generation, you’ll get one of: Wooltchi, Androtchi, or Teketchi. Random 1-in-3 draw.
Frail Adult Evolution Line (V3 — Even Generation)
| Character | Care requirement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wooltchi ← you are here | Frail adult (physical neglect > mental neglect) | Kurokotchi-in-costume; cheerful alter ego; origin story is unique in V3 dex |
| Androtchi | Frail adult (same requirements) | Robot exterior, human feelings; introvert lore |
| Teketchi | Frail adult (same requirements) | Blue multi-legged character; V3-exclusive |
Food Preferences
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Favorite food | Pie — feeding grants 4 happy hearts (note: V2 favorite was crackers; V3 is pie) |
| Disliked food | Omelettes — offering the disliked food lowers happiness (same on V2 and V3) |
Fun Facts
On the V3’s TamaTown companion website, a sad Wooltchi could be seen standing outside the bank — which, given the cheerful costume persona, was an incongruously melancholy detail that stuck in many players’ memories from the original device era.
When Wooltchi connects to another device on V2, V3, and the 2024 rerelease, squiggle lines appear instead of the usual puff cloud when it jumps off screen. It shares this animation quirk with most other Frail and Stubborn adults on those devices — a subtle visual distinction that hints at the character’s care-tier origin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Wooltchi actually Kurokotchi?
In the Japanese release, yes — Wooltchi is Kurokotchi wearing a wool costume. On V3, they’re separate raisable characters: Wooltchi is Frail even-gen and Kurokotchi is Stubborn odd-gen. Same character in lore, completely different care paths on V3.
Is Wooltchi in the 2024 Connection rerelease?
Yes, as a Frail even-gen adult. The 2024 rerelease gives Wooltchi Apple Pie as a favorite and Omelets as a dislike.
