Who Is Hidatchi?
Hidatchi is a V3-exclusive character — it doesn’t appear on V1, V2, or most later Tamagotchi releases, making it one of the more obscure adults in the Connection dex. The name comes from the Japanese word “hida,” meaning creases or pleats, a reference to the three large frills on either side of the character’s head. Hidatchi is light yellow with small black eyes and a wide mouth, and the frilled silhouette gives it one of the more distinctive shapes among V3 adults.
On V3, Hidatchi is one of three Normal even-gen adults alongside Bunbuntchi and Debatchi. The Normal tier requires moderate care — attentive enough that you’re catching most calls, but not the near-perfect discipline of the Serious tier. Because Hidatchi is even-gen only, you can’t access it on your first run (Gen 1 is odd). You need to complete at least one generation and breed to Gen 2 before Hidatchi becomes available.

How to Get Hidatchi on V3
Step 1 — Even generation only
Hidatchi requires an even generation: Gen 2, 4, 6, and so on. Complete Gen 1 and breed your adult to access Gen 2. Odd-gen Normal adults are Kuchipatchi, Memetchi, and Billotchi.
Step 2 — Moderate care during teen stage
Aim for 3–4 total care mistakes across both physical and mental categories. Too few (0–2) and you’ll get a Serious adult; too many (5+) risks sliding into Naughty or Frail territory. Normal tier emerges naturally from everyday play when you’re attentive but not perfectly on schedule.
Step 3 — Random draw among Normal even-gen adults
With Normal care on an even generation, you’ll get one of: Hidatchi, Bunbuntchi, or Debatchi. The draw is random — 1 in 3 for Hidatchi.
Normal Adult Evolution Line (V3 — Even Generation)
| Character | Care requirement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Hidatchi ← you are here | Normal adult (3–4 mistakes, both categories) | V3-exclusive; frilled head; light yellow |
| Bunbuntchi | Normal adult (same requirements) | Bunny-inspired; blue overalls; appears on multiple devices |
| Debatchi | Normal adult (same requirements) | Overbite character; comedian lore; V2+ veteran |
Fun Facts
Hidatchi’s V3 exclusivity means it has almost no presence in Tamagotchi media outside the device itself. Unlike Bunbuntchi (which originated on the Osutchi) or Debatchi (which appeared on V2), Hidatchi was introduced specifically for V3 and didn’t carry forward into most later releases. This makes it one of the most “time capsule” characters in the Connection dex — it exists primarily as a V3 artifact.
Food Preferences
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Favorite food | Chicken drumstick — feeding grants 4 happy hearts |
| Disliked food | Ice cream — offering the disliked food lowers happiness |
Who Should Raise Hidatchi?
Hidatchi is primarily a target for V3 completionists. Its exclusivity to this device makes it a meaningful dex entry for anyone cataloguing the full V3 adult roster. For casual players, Bunbuntchi or Debatchi from the same tier offer more cross-release recognition, but Hidatchi’s unique frilled design is worth at least one run.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Hidatchi in the 2024 Connection rerelease?
Yes — the 2024 rerelease uses V3 programming, which includes Hidatchi as a Normal even-gen adult.
Why can’t I get Hidatchi on Gen 1?
Gen 1 is an odd generation. Hidatchi is even-gen only. Complete Gen 1, breed your adult, and the resulting Gen 2 (or any later even gen) gives you access to Hidatchi.
