Who Is Bunbuntchi?

Bunbuntchi is the Connection era’s shy rabbit-inspired character — blue overalls, black bunny ears that look like a hat, and a personality built entirely around being unable to confess feelings to the girl he likes. The official profile from his original Japanese release: “Even if he wants to say ‘I love you,’ he can’t quite work up the courage. Sometimes he ends up fighting with her even if he really doesn’t want to.” The internal conflict is the whole character.

Bunbuntchi predates the Connection era — he originated on the Japanese Osutchi device, one of the Tamagotchi gender-split pets from the late 1990s, and appeared again on the Deai Hakken!! Arukotch. On V3, he’s one of three Normal even-gen adults alongside Hidatchi and Debatchi. His even-gen placement means Gen 1 (odd) won’t produce him — you need at least Gen 2 to access Bunbuntchi on V3.

How to Get Bunbuntchi on V3

Step 1 — Even generation only

Bunbuntchi requires an even generation: Gen 2, 4, 6, and so on. Complete Gen 1 and breed to unlock Gen 2. Odd-gen Normal adults are Kuchipatchi, Memetchi, and Billotchi.

Step 2 — Moderate care during teen stage

Aim for 3–4 total care mistakes across physical and mental categories during the teen stage. Natural daily-life play with most calls answered will typically land here. The Normal tier sits above Naughty (mental neglect) and Frail (physical neglect) — balance both types of mistakes rather than skewing toward one.

Step 3 — Random draw among Normal even-gen adults

With Normal care on an even generation, you’ll get one of: Bunbuntchi, Hidatchi, or Debatchi. Random 1-in-3 draw. All three require identical care.

Normal Adult Evolution Line (V3 — Even Generation)

Character Care requirement Notes
Bunbuntchi ← you are here Normal adult (3–4 mistakes, both categories) Bunny design; blue overalls; pre-dates V3; shy lore
Hidatchi Normal adult (same requirements) V3-exclusive; frilled head; light yellow
Debatchi Normal adult (same requirements) Overbite character; comedian lore; V2+ veteran

Fun Facts

Bunbuntchi’s name derives from the first syllable of “bunny” — straightforward, but the doubled “bun-bun” construction gives it the same onomatopoeic texture as most Tamagotchi character names. The current V3 artwork updated him with pink cheeks, softening the original Osutchi design which was slightly more angular.

An interesting food contradiction: Bunbuntchi’s favorite food is sausage, but he dislikes hot dogs — essentially the same ingredient in different form. This kind of within-category food preference quirk appears a few times across the V3 roster and tends to be memorable once you notice it.

Food Preferences

Category Details
Favorite food Sausage — feeding grants 4 happy hearts
Disliked food Hot dogs — offering the disliked food lowers happiness (notably similar to the favorite; V3’s quirky preference logic at work)

Who Should Raise Bunbuntchi?

Bunbuntchi suits players who want a character with pre-V3 history and genuine lore depth. Of the three even-gen Normal adults, Bunbuntchi has the most developed personality (thanks to his Osutchi backstory) and the most recognizable bunny-inspired design. Players who enjoy the shy/lovesick character archetype will find his profile particularly charming.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Bunbuntchi in the 2024 Connection rerelease?

Yes, as a Normal even-gen adult with the same requirements as V3.

What’s the deal with sausage vs. hot dogs?

V3 food preferences are per-character and don’t always follow intuitive logic. Bunbuntchi loves sausage but dislikes hot dogs — both items are in the game’s food menu, and the preference is hardcoded per character rather than derived from ingredient similarity. Feed sausage for 4 hearts; avoid hot dogs.
