Short answer: yes. Bandai’s stated security support period ended on 13 July 2026, and that has caused some understandable alarm. But security support and service life are two different things, and the Uni is still actively receiving content.
What Actually Ended
The security support period — the window in which Bandai commits to shipping security patches for the device’s software. It is a standard disclosure on Japanese consumer electronics and appears in the footer of every official Uni page. It is not a Tamaverse shutdown notice, and Bandai has not announced one.

Monthly item drops have been continuous, and a new paid land arrived in September. Companies do not sell new DLC for a platform they are about to switch off.
What Happens If the Servers Do Go Down Eventually
- All basic care works offline. Feeding, playing, evolution, care mistakes — none of it needs Wi-Fi.
- Device-to-device Connect works offline. Marriage and local connection are unaffected.
- What you would lose: the Tamaverse itself, download codes, new DL Areas, and online events.
- Already-downloaded lands stay on your device — the code is linked to the hardware.
So a Uni without servers is still a functioning Tamagotchi. It just stops growing.
Should You Still Buy One?
If the Tamaverse is the reason you want it, buy sooner rather than later — online features for any connected device have a finite life. If you want a good colour-screen Tamagotchi that works standalone, the offline experience is unaffected by any of this.
