What Is It?

The Tamagotchi Plus Color (TMGC+C) released in Japan on November 22, 2008 — with early sales on November 16 at TamaDepa stores — and made history as the first Tamagotchi with a full-color LCD screen. It used a larger shell with a plastic screen cover and launched in seven colors (White, Black, Pink, Magenta, Green, Blue, and Orange), keeping the infrared sensor for Tamacom connecting.

Key Features

  • First full-color screen in franchise history.
  • Seven shell colors at launch.
  • Larger shell with a protective screen cover.
  • Infrared (Tamacom) connecting carried over from the Plus line.

Is It Worth Getting Today?

A genuine landmark. The Plus Color is the bridge from monochrome to the color golden age, leading directly into the Tamagotchi iD a year later. Japan-only and increasingly collectible as the device that brought color to Tamagotchi.

It set up the color era of the iD and iD L. See the whole lineup on the Devices hub.
