How to Get Mermarintchi

Shell required: Blue Water — this character cannot be obtained on any other shell.

Step 1 — Feed the right food during the Kid stage Feed: any Water food type (Seafood, Seaweed, or Plankton) — just not a Pellet-only diet This ensures your Tamagotchi becomes one of the qualifying Young types: Glide, Leap, or Paddle Young ⚠️ Float Young cannot become Mermarintchi

Step 2 — Connect to two different shell colors during the Young stage While your Tamagotchi is a Young, physically connect your Paradise device to two different shell colors. For example, one Blue Water and one Pink Land. The connections can happen back-to-back. What happens during the connection doesn’t matter — the secret character flag is triggered by the act of connecting, not the outcome.

Step 3 — Evolve After both connections, your Young will evolve into Mermarintchi instead of a normal adult.

Timing: The Young stage lasts 24 hours. Both connections must happen within that window. Don’t wait until the last minute.

Troubleshooting: – Double-check you’re on the right shell — Blue Water only – Make sure you actually fed a specific food type during Kid (Pellets only = wrong Young type) – Both connections must be to two different shell colors — two connections to the same color don’t count – The connections must happen during the Young stage, not Kid or Baby

Food Preferences

CategoryDetails
Favorite typeSeafood items (Crab, Shrimp, Salmon, Sushi, Grilled Crab, Shrimp Bisque, Salmon Teriyaki, Sashimi Platter)

PelletsAccepted but won’t show a favorite heart icon — use actual Seafood items for best happiness return

Personality & Living With Mermarintchi

Mermarintchi is the Blue Water shell’s most elegant character — a reward for players who invest in cross-shell connections during their first playthrough. Her 90-minute hunger timer and 80-minute happiness timer are among the most generous in the game, which fits her calm, unhurried personality.

She doesn’t demand constant attention. Raise her on a Blue Water shell that you check a few times per day and she’ll thrive. The key is not to let hunger hit zero — a sick Mermarintchi at 35% sick rate will cost you care mistake time that could have been spent on your next run.

Best strategy for keeping Mermarintchi happy: Feed Seafood items whenever her hunger drops below half. Use the field favorite-food system (look for the heart icon in the food menu) to identify which items she prefers in your current field configuration. Play a quick mini-game once a day and she’ll stay near full happiness without much effort.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get Mermarintchi without another Blue Water device? Yes. You need two connections to two different shell colors during the Young stage. You could connect one Blue Water and one Pink Land — or any two shells that are different colors. You don’t need two Blue Water devices.

Does Float Young disqualify me entirely? Yes. Float Young cannot become Mermarintchi. Float comes from a Pellet-heavy diet during Kid. Feed any specific Seafood, Seaweed, or Plankton item to get Glide, Leap, or Paddle Young instead.

Will she appear in the compendium before I raise her? No. Secret characters don’t show up in the in-game compendium until you’ve raised them at least once. She’s listed as a mystery entry until then.

Fun Facts

Blue Water exclusive. Was briefly visible in the Tamagotchi Paradise comic before being removed from the official website to preserve the surprise. Float Young cannot become Mermarintchi — you must be feeding a food type during the Kid stage.
