The Water Field: What to Expect
The Water Field resembles an underwater environment populated by sea creatures, deep-sea oddities, and a few surprises that have nothing to do with the ocean at all. There are four Young species to aim for, each driven by a different diet:
- Glide Young (Seafood diet) → leads to Irukatchi, Kametchi, Kujiratchi, Uruotchi
- Leap Young (Seaweed diet) → leads to Axolopatchi, Imoritchi, Kawazutchi, Beavertchi
- Paddle Young (Plankton diet) → leads to Tachutchi, Sharktchi, Ankotchi, Otototchi
- Float Young (No/mixed diet) → leads to Kuraratchi, Mendakotchi, Amefuratchi, Gusokutchi
See the full Evolution Chart for which care level leads to which specific adult within each species.
Standout Water Characters Worth Knowing
Irukatchi is the Blue Water mascot — a mischievous dolphin with wild energy and a habit of pranking people. You’ll see its face on the official shell merchandise pouch.
Otototchi spent 25 years as a teen on the Tamagotchi Ocean before finally becoming an adult on Paradise. If you’ve been in the fandom for a while, raising an Otototchi feels like a moment.
Gusokutchi is based on the giant isopod — a real, foot-long deep-sea roly-poly bug. Its entire personality revolves around loving to clean up poop. The contrast between its terrifying real-world counterpart and its cheerful housekeeping personality is peak Tamagotchi energy.
Uruotchi is the heavy-neglect Glide adult — a blue-gray tadpole obsessed with skincare and humidity. It has the happiest meter drain of all Glide adults (90 minutes) despite being the most neglected to obtain.
Mermarintchi: Your Exclusive Secret Character
Mermarintchi is the Blue Water exclusive secret character — a mermaid-based adult you can only obtain on this shell.
How to get Mermarintchi:
1. Raise your Water Kid and feed it Seafood, Seaweed, or Plankton to evolve into Glide, Leap, or Paddle Young
2. While it’s a Young, connect to a Pink Land shell AND a Purple Sky (or Jade Forest) shell
3. Mermarintchi will appear at the next adult evolution
Important: Float Young cannot become Mermarintchi. Make sure you’re feeding the right food type during the Kid stage.

Blue Water Starter Tips
Start with Seafood if you want the mascot. Irukatchi (perfect care Glide) is the face of this shell and a great first character to aim for. Feed Seafood during the Kid stage, keep your care spotless, and max both meters 5+ times as a Young.
Plankton is the trickiest diet to source. Meal Shrimp and Meal Plankton are available in the shop, but Plankton Dumplings require cooking. Stock up before your Kid stage if you’re aiming for a Paddle Young character.
The Water Field has some of the game’s most relaxed adults. Kujiratchi (hunger every 90 minutes), Kuraratchi (happiness every 90 minutes), and Uruotchi (happiness every 90 minutes) are all very forgiving once you have them. Great choices if you want an adult that doesn’t demand constant attention.
Otototchi is a heavy-neglect character — you’ll need 6+ care mistakes to get it. If you want to raise the franchise veteran, plan for a deliberately neglectful run.
What Makes Blue Water Unique
The Water Field stands out for having some of the most thematically diverse characters in the game despite all being “water” types. You’ve got dolphins, turtles, whales, axolotls, newts, frogs, beavers, seahorses, sharks, angler fish, jellyfish, octopuses, rain dancers, and giant isopods all coexisting in the same field. It’s chaotic in the best way.
The Blue Water shell also has the most forgiving stat profile overall — Water adults tend toward longer hunger and happiness timers than Land adults, making the shell a good choice for players who can’t always check in every 30 minutes.
