What Is It?
In Japan, the 2004 reboot that the West knew as the Connection was branded the Tamagotchi Plus. Released in March 2004 with a fresh art style by the artist JINCO, it relaunched the franchise with IrDA infrared connecting and the ability to marry and have babies. It kicked off a long Japanese “Plus” line that ran in parallel with the Western Connection versions.
Key Features
- JINCO art redesign that defined the modern look.
- Infrared (Tamacom) connecting between devices.
- Marriage and offspring across generations.
- The Japanese root of the modern Plus / Connection family.
Is It Worth Getting Today?
A historic starting point. The Plus is the Japanese counterpart to the Connection V1 and the seed of everything that followed. It is Japan-only and basic by modern standards, but it carries real historical weight for collectors.
The Western equivalent is the Connection era; the line later went color with the Plus Color. Full timeline on the Devices hub.
