Paradise tracks your Tamagotchi’s evolution in the Tama Cell view — and for the first time in the franchise, you can actually see it happening. Food cells are the part that decides your Young species.
What Food Cells Are
View your Tamagotchi at the Tama Cell level to see them. There are three kinds of cell, and they appear at different stages.

This is why perfect care fails for so many people. Zero care mistakes is only half the requirement — you also need five hunger cells and five happy cells. You can count them in the Tama Cell view before the adult transition, which means you can fix it while there is still time.
Changing Type Mid-Stage
Moving your Tamagotchi to a different field during the Kid stage removes every food cell tied to the previous field. That is not a bug — it is how you deliberately change course if you have been feeding the wrong thing.
What It Does to Your Evolution
Food cells accumulate as you feed during the Kid stage. Whichever type has the most cells at the moment of evolution wins. You need at least one cell of your target type, and more of it than any other.
When It Matters
Food only steers evolution during the Kid stage. What you feed as a Baby, a Young or an Adult has no effect on which character you get — it only fills the hunger meter. The Kid stage runs 24–28 hours, and that is your whole window.
You need one icon of the target type in your Tama Cell, and more of it than any other type at the moment of evolution. Feed a few, watch for the icon, then switch to cheap default pellets to save Gotchi Points.
If you ignore the prompt to evolve your Baby, the field cells it gathered disappear entirely and you start that count again. After 3–4 hours the evolution triggers on its own.
