What Is It?

Released in Japan in December 1997, Osutchi (male) and Mesutchi (female) were sold as separate devices with their own characters. Their breakthrough: the tops of two devices interlock so an adult pair can mate and produce a child — the first breeding mechanic in Tamagotchi history, years before the Connection line. They also feature 10 icons, more than other devices of the time.

Key Features

  • Male/female pair with unique characters each.
  • Interlocking mating — the original breeding system.
  • 10 icons, an unusually rich interface for 1997.

Is It Worth Getting Today?

A landmark for collectors. As the ancestor of every breeding device that followed — through m!x, On / Meets and Paradise — Osutchi & Mesutchi are historically important. They are Japan-only and best bought as a matched pair.
