Just unboxed a Tamagotchi Paradise and feeling lost? This is the friendly, step-by-step guide to your first day — what to do, what to ignore, and how to avoid the rookie mistakes that cost you your favorite character.
Step 1: Power On & Set the Clock
Pull the battery tab (or insert the coin cell), then set the time and date accurately. This matters more than it sounds — Paradise uses real time for sleep, growth, and events. A wrong clock means a pet that sleeps at the wrong hours.
Step 2: Meet Your Baby & Learn the Crank
Your Tamagotchi hatches as a Baby. The signature feature is the zoom crank on the top-right — turn it to zoom from your single pet all the way out to the whole planet, and into Cell View to inspect details. Spend a minute just zooming in and out to get a feel for it.
Step 3: Feed, Clean, and Keep It Happy
The core care loop is the same as every Tamagotchi:
- Hunger — feed it before the meter empties.
- Happy — play mini-games to keep it cheerful.
- Health — clean up when it makes a mess, and treat it if it gets sick.
When your Tamagotchi calls for attention, you have about 15 minutes to respond before it counts against you (more on that next).
Step 4: Understand Care Mistakes (The Big One)
This is the single most important thing for new players. Every time you miss a call — hunger or happy hitting zero, or letting it get sick — you rack up a care mistake. Your total care mistakes decide which adult your Tamagotchi becomes, and they don’t reset between stages — they stack. Want a specific character? Read the Care Mistake Guide before you get attached.
Good news: for the first time, you can see your mistakes. Zoom into Cell View and look for spiral icons — each spiral is one care mistake.
Step 5: Don’t Stress About Perfection Yet
Your very first Tamagotchi is your practice run. Don’t chase a rare character on day one — just learn the rhythm of feeding, playing, and responding to calls. You’ll naturally get better at hitting that 15-minute window. Aim for your dream character on your second or third pet.
